Grade Two Age 8 Ballet
Provides a broad practical dance education, progressively
developing the technical, musical and performance skills of the
student. This grade incorporates Classical Ballet, Free Movement
and Character.
Classical ballet is the core of the grade two syllabus and allows
students to develop poise, flexibility, strength and discipline.
Free Movement incorporates movements in common with dance genres
such as Natural Movement, Contemporary and Classical Greek. Free
movement is based on the natural lines of the body, and trains the
student to develop their own natural style of movement.
Character is the theatrical presentation of national dance using
traditional ethnic dance and music, which has been freely adapted
for the theatre. Character dancing is important for the development
of strength, rhythm and style. The style selected for this
grade is Hungarian.
